Abstract

Intensity improvement of cultivation in swamp land should be followed by application of adaptive innovation technology. At moment, swamp rice seed breeding is still limited, not many independent breeders produce swamp rice seeds. To understanding the feasibility of Inpara rice seed breeding farming in tidal swamp land, research was conducted on seed breeding location in Karang Bunga Village, Mandastana Subdistrict and non breeders in Samuda Village, Belawang Subdistrict, Barito Kuala District in 2016. Samples of farmers were randomly selected in each village as many as 15 people so that number of farmers were 30 people. Data collected were among others:  farmers' characteristics, input-output of farming, problems in breeding.Data tabulated and analyzed by descriptive and balance of cost and income.Farming is considered financially and economically feasible if the R/C is more than one. Results showed that rice seed breeding farming and consumption rice were equally feasible to be cultivated.Feasibility analysis comparison between two farmings showed that income from rice seed breeding farming in Inpara 2 and Inpara 3 is lower than acceptance of consumption rice farming of Margasari variety. Inpara 3 variety in consumption rice farming are more sensitive if there are changes on price and achieved production compared to other varieties.
