RANCANG BANGUN TUNGKU PELEBURAN ALUMINIUM BERBAHAN BAKAR PADAT DENGAN SISTEM ALIRAN UDARA PAKSA

ABSTRACT

This paper report the result of a performance study in solid fired furnace designed used for aluminium melting with forced air flow. Yhe experiment was used aluminum scrap as a raw material  and coal briquette as a solid fuel. The performance evaluation of such furnace was carried out in order to determine efficiency of the furnace. Towards this objective, measurement was taken of quantity of solid fuel used for different melts and their corresponding melting time and temperature. The energy used was determined and the efficiency was calculated. The efficiency obtained for the furnace was 4.45%. This low efficiency obtained is as result of large energy wasted loss due to high air flow rate blowed to furnace by the blower.
