ABSTRACT

This research aims to determine the effect of the blade angle variation of directional flow (turbulator) in the intake manifold 4-stroke motorcycles to engine performance. In this research, it was used three variations of blade angle  30o, 45o and 60o. This research  was done using a motorcycle engine 113 cc Yamaha Jupiter Z manufactured at 2007. Investigation of  torque and  power of the engine   was done on rotational speed from 3750 rpm to 10000 rpm, while fuel consumption test was conducted on  rotational speed of 1000 rpm to 6000 rpm. From the results of this research, it can be concluded that the use of directional flow (turbulator) in the intake manifold with angle blade 30o has the best performance of the engine. It was indicated by high torque, high power,  high BMEP and. The positive effect to the engine was also indicated by low fuel consumption and the high SFC on engine with angle blade 30o turbulator .

Key words:  engine, intake manifold, power, torque, turbulator
